Advanced Standing for Assisted Living Facilities

The Health Care Association of New Jersey Foundation (HCANJF) has collaborated with the New Jersey Department of Health (DOH) on a voluntary program for assisted living known as Advanced Standing (AS). The program is open to all licensed assisted living residences and comprehensive personal care homes in NJ.

To receive the DOH distinction of Advanced Standing, a center must comply with all applicable local, state and federal regulations as well as submit quality data that reaches benchmarks established by a Peer Review Panel. Once all regulations are satisfactorily met and the quality measures meet the established benchmarks, DOH will make the final determination on Advanced Standing.

To participate in the program a center must sign a contract with HCANJF which specifies the program criteria, submit a signed Affidavit of Compliance and submit payment for the program in full during the open enrollment period, as indicated in the application package. A center that is granted Advanced Standing by DOH will be able to promote that distinction. HCANJ members with Advanced Standing status will have a special designation on the HCANJ website.
