In August 2022, many providers noticed changes in their Five Star rating on Care Compare. Effective with the July 2022 refresh, CMS revised the methodology for calculating the Staffing star rating. The new rating is based on six separate staffing measures. Similar to the Quality Measure (QM) rating, points are assigned based on the facility’s performance in staffing and turnover.
